COSPAR Capacity Building Workshop 2026
The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Helwan, Egypt, will host a two-week COSPAR Capacity Building Workshop this summer, bringing together early-career researchers from across Africa and the Middle East for intensive, hands-on training in solar physics and space weather.
The workshop focuses on Earth-affecting solar transients - including coronal mass ejections (CMEs), solar energetic particles (SEPs), and geomagnetic storms - tracing their journey from the Sun’s corona to their impacts on Earth’s magnetic environment and space-based technology.
Participants will work directly with real observational data from major space missions including SOHO, STEREO, Wind, and ACE, accessed through NASA’s CDAW Data Center, as well as ground-based radio data from the e-CALLISTO network. Training in Python and web-based analysis tools will equip attendees with practical, career-ready research skills.
